MANILA — De La Salle University (DLSU) and Far Eastern University (FEU) both have one common goal – to win their respective games before their big showdown.

Defending champions DLSU are on a roll after winning over their rival Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles.

The Archers will face the University of the Philippines Maroons at 2 p.m opener. Afterwards, the FEU Tamaraws will try to avenge their loss to the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers at 4 p.m.

Should both the Archers and Tamaraws win, they will share the top spot with Ateneo with 7-2 win-loss card.

Aside from that, both will be on top form before they face-off next Wednesday.

Star forward Jeron Teng continues to be the weapon of the Archers. Teng is averaging 26.3 points during their last three games, including a season-high 32 against the Eagles.

“He makes very good reads and he involves his teammates,” said DLSU Head Coach Juno Sauler, referring to Teng. “The reason why the other guys were scoring is not because of the openings they got but because of Jeron recognizing the defense.

Meanwhile, Coach Nash Racela is not pleased with his team’s on-and-off performance.

“We’re just looking for that consistency, malapit na siguro,” Racela said.

FEU is lead by forward Mac Belo, guard Mike Tolomia, and veteran center Carl Bryan Cruz. They are looking forward to win against the Growling Tigers who are currently in fifth place with 4-4 win-loss card.
