Martin del Rosario wins ‘Best Actor’ in PPP 2019

GMA Artist Center talent Martin del Rosario received his first-ever ‘Best Actor’ award in the Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019 for his exceptional role as Daniel Panti in the comedy flick ‘The Panti Sisters.’
The 26-year-old actor couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by the great turnout of his career this year, “Nakagawa ako ng isang character na kahit na sobrang extreme niya, nabigyan ko siya ng puso. Nakaka-overwhelm, bukod sa topgrosser, nanalo pa ng Best Actor, kasabay pa ‘yung world premiere ng The Gift. Overflowing ‘yung blessings, hindi ko na ma-explain ‘yung saya na nararamdaman ko.”
Martin is now gearing up for his role in the GMA primetime series ‘The Gift,’ where he plays Jared, a politician and Sep’s (Alden Richards) half-brother. According to him, his new role is a big shift from his character in The Panti Sisters, but he is up for the challenge.
“Gustung-gusto ko talagang magplay ng iba’t ibang roles. Sa bawat character na ‘yan, feel ko nagagawa ko ‘yung best ko, etong mga awards na ito, ito ‘yung nakakainspire bilang artista.
Pag na-recognize kasi parang may affirmation na tama pala ‘tong ginagawa ko, nasa tamang landas ako.”
Furthermore, Martin also shared his preparations for yet another complex role in The Gift, “Physically, ngayon nag-palaki ako. Two weeks na akong nag-gym kasi kontrabida eh, si Alden mas matangkad sa akin, marami kaming confrontation, tapatan. Maganda ‘yung believable, maganda ‘yung tindig mo in terms of look, pinalitan ko ng mas clean ‘yung gupit ko.
In terms of character, nilagyan ko ng glasses para magmukha akong karespe-respeto.”
