PH rep Aicelle Santos places second in ASEAN+3 Song Contest
A few months after her global musical tour for “Miss Saigon,” singer Aicelle Santos has represented the Philippines again in the international entertainment scene and placed second in the ASEAN+3 Song Contest that was recently held in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh, Vietnam.
During the final round of the competition last Sunday, July 28, Aicelle sported a pink Filipiniana as she sang “Kapangyarihan ng Pag-ibig” by Jungee Marcelo, which is a track that is featured in her self-produced album “Liwanag.” Tim Pavino and Steven Bedolido were also Filipinos present at the event to compete for their country.
Ultimately, Malaysian singer Rosario Ninih Chamini Bianis bested out the 21 other contestants from ages 18-35 by winning the top spot. Aicelle tied with Tran Hong Nhung from Vietnam for silver, while both Olivia Christina from Indonesia and Eint Chit from Myanmar bagged bronze. The other countries present included China, Japan, and Korea.
Aicelle posted about the event on Instagram, captioned, “Honored to have shared our very own Pinoy Music alongside Tim Pavino and Steven Bedolido on ASEAN stage. And what a feat to bag silver! Mabuhay ang OPM!” She also thanks Jungee Marcelo and Janno Gibbs “for their music.”
Since her Miss Saigon Journey, the 34-year-old actress has been thanking her fellow Filipinos “who supported [her] throughout [her] journey.” From the iconic music, she states, “I have learned to be more confident in my own skin. I lost my fear, my insecurities. You just have to remind yourself to give your all. Give them the best show.”
As she returns to the Philippines, Aicelle will now occupy herself with wedding planning as she is engaged to ESPN5 television host Mark Zambrano.
