Recent back-to-back wins for the Talk N’ Text KaTropa in the 2019 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup have been highly led by point guard Jayson Castro, which is why “The Blur” is the PBA Corps-Cignal Player of the Week from July 1 to 7.

In the two recent games where the KaTropa triumphed over Rain or Shine and Blackwater, Castro averaged 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game, the two-time best point guard of Asia besting out 12 other players to become the unanimous choice. In the last match alone, the Pampanga-native led his team to an 18-point win as he had a double-double of 13 points and 10 assists.

Among the other players who received votes from the PBA Press Corps include Columbian Dyip’s Reden Celda and Barangay Ginebra’s Stanley Pringle. Among the nominees include: TNT KaTropa’s Roger Pogoy, Northport Batang Pier’s Nico Elorde, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’ Mark Borboran, Barangay Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar, Columbian Dyip’s CJ Perez and Rashawn McCarthy, and Blackwater Elite’s Mike Digregorio, Bobby Ray Parks, and Ellein Maliksi.

Currently, the KaTropa is facing nine wins and only one loss in the elimination round of the season, holding onto the number one spot entering the playoffs. Their next match is against the Magnolia Hotshots, which will be happening next Wednesday, July 17 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
