The Philippines’ sought-after love team KathNiel, made up of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, showed their love for adorable furry friends by donating 10 animal cages to Manila City Pound.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, July 2, the Manila Public Information (PIO) said the Kapamilya stars’ made the donation after Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso visited and inspected the pound last week.

“Mayor Domagoso expresses his gratitude to Ms. Bernardo and Mr. Padilla for the donation,” it said.

In an interview with CNN Philippines, the Manila City mayor urged the Filipino people to adopt stray dogs and cats and give donations to the pound, after he postponed the euthanization of the animals.

Animal welfare group PAWSsion Project also echoed the mayor’s appeal.

“The dogs now have 10 cages. Now, they need humans who can take them home. Please step up and adopt them,” it said in a Facebook post.

“Just because scheduled euthanasia was put on hold does not mean they’re already okay. They need to be adopted and rehomed,” it added.

Both Kathryn and Daniel are known to have a soft spot for animals. Among the pets of the 24-year old actor are Kiba, a Samoyed; Luna, a Golden Retriever; and Apache, a Siberian Husky. The 23-year-old actress, meanwhile, has five furkids namely: Snow, a white Bichon Frise; Cloud, a Golden Retriever; Pablo, a Teacup Pomeranian; Tala, a Samoyed; and Chloe, her first-ever cat.

To show her love for her pets, Kathryn even created an Instagram account dedicated to them with username @bernardogcath.

“Hi humans! Mom FINALLY made an account for us! Follow us and get ready to see your daily dose of cuteness from me and my siblings,” she said in her Instagram post in January 2018.

The Instagram account has 114,000 followers as of posting.
