JRU bombs Mapua; EAC pounced on San Sebastian
MANILA — Philip Paniamogan started the rally that favored his team in the end.
The gunner from Jose Rizal University (JRU) fired all of his 26 points in the second half to give his team the win against Mapua Cardinals, 87-78.
After missing crucial shots in the first half, Paniamogan started the fourth canto with three straight shots from the rainbow country to lead the team to victory. JRU now enjoys a solo third place with 6-3 cards as the first round of the NCAA ends.
In the first game, Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) triumphed over San Sebastian with 71-56 win.
John Tayongtong showed a solid performance with 17 points in the final period. The Generals ended the first round with 3-6 record. They share the seventh spot with San Sebastian.
According to EAC coach Gerry Esplana, “it’s nice to end the first round with a win. We wanted to neutralize their scorers.”
