MRT management vows to assist those injured in train crash

MANILA — The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) management on Wednesday apologized for the crash of one of its trains through a station wall in Taft Avenue station, EDSA Pasay.

Via Twitter, the management expressed regret for the occurrence of the accident and assured that help will be extended to all those who need it.

“The MRT regrets the unfortunate incident, the management will extend all necessary assistance to those injured and inconvenienced. Thank you,” the MRT management said.

While the MRT 3 continued to run Southbound and Northbound, it earlier announced that passengers should expect a delay approaching Taft Avenue because management was “utilizing single tract in reversing”.

“We are currently undergoing necessary intervention for the technical problem encountered. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the management noted.

The MRT resumed full operations an hour after the incident which injured over 30 people.

MRT spokesperson Hernando Cabrera earlier said that authorities are finding about if the reason for the crash was caused by human error or technical problem.
