MRT-3 train derailed at Taft Station
MANILA — (UPDATED 5:18 PM PH time) A Metro Rail Transit train was derailed at Taft MRT Station in Pasay City at around 3:30 PM.
According to reports, around eight to nine people were injured when the train hit a barrier and was derailed. Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) officials are saying it was a ‘technical problem.’
The wounded passengers and pedestrians were brought to nearby hospitals. A tweet from Health Sec. Eric Tayag said that nearby DOH hospitals were alerted to receive victims.

MRT has encountered several technical issues in the past, which brought its maintenance and management in the limelight.
Several thousands of Filipinos ride the MRT everyday.
