DAGUPAN CITY – Two elite swimmers from the Balon Dagupan Swim Club have qualified for the 43rd South East Asian Age (SEA Age) Group Championships to be held in Cambodia this June.

Janelle Alisa Lin and Gabriel Angelo Jizmundo both made it to the Philippine Swimming National Team, under the 14-15 Age Group girls and boys division, respectively.

Jefferson Lao, Balon Dagupan Swim Club head coach, said Lin is a distance swimmer and will be competing in the 400m & 800m Free, and 400m IM (individual medley) events.

This is the second time Lin qualified for the SEA Age Group Championships, the first time was last year.

Jizmundo, whom Lao described as the “prince of breast stroke events” (14-14), will compete in the 50m Free, and 50m, 100m & 200m Breast events.

Jizmundo has amassed gold medals at the Batang Pinoy-Luzon leg recently held in Ilagan City, Isabela.

On the other hand, Lin, a consistent medal hauler, will compete at the Palarong Pambansa which will be held from April 27 to May 4 in Davao City.

For young tankers like Lin and Jizmundo to qualify for the SEA Age Group Championships, Lao said a swimmer must land as top two finishers in all events participated in, which were sanctioned by the Philippine Swimming Inc. (PSI) and FINA.

The qualifying competitions were held between December 2018 to March 2019.
