New announcements for international concerts in Manila this 2019
The Philippines is ready for another spectacular year in terms of international acts performing in the country, as fans were able to witness some of the biggest names these past 12 months.
In 2018, Filipinos were treated to the likes of Foster The People, The XX, Incubus, Paramore, Fifth Harmony, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, The Script, Harry Styles, Bruno Mars, and Niall Horan. This year, a new roster of names have already been announced.
Starting of the year is American singer-songwriter Josh Groban, returning to Manila after his last visit 12 years ago. The 37-year-old Grammy nominee is bringing his Bridges Tour, which honors his recent album Bridges, to the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena on February 22. Groban is known for songs “You Raise Me Up,” “To Where You Are,” and “The Prayer,” which features Canadian singer Celine Dion.
On March 5, Grammy award-winning rock band Maroon 5 has its fifth encore in Manila as MMI Live brings the Red Pills Blues tour to the MOA Arena as well. Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, James Valentine, PJ Morton, Matt Flynn, Sam Farrar, Mickey Madden, and Ryan Dusick will be performing new songs like “What Lovers Do” and “Girls Like You.” For the same tour, the band will also be stopping by South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand.
While Maroon 5 comes for their fifth time, 28-year-old British singer/host Rita Ora will have her first Filipino experience as she performs at the New Frontier Theater on March 10 for her Phoenix Tour, where she’ll be performing hits like “I Will Never Let You Down,” “Girls,” and “Let You Love Me.”
Australian Troye Sivan was in the Philippines last June, but when he returns this May 1, he will not be promoting his collaboration with local clothing line SM Youth, he will be promoting second studio album Bloom. Fans are anticipating listening to his hits “Youth,” “My My My!,” “There For You,” “Fools,” and “Dance To This.”
Also returning to the country only less than a year later is Lauv, who will be stopping by both Manila and Cebu. On May 20, the alternative-pop artist will be performing at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, while on the 21st, he is set to rock the stage at Waterfront Hotel in Cebu. Lauv is known for tracks “I Like Me Better,” “Paris in the Rain,” “Easy Love,” “Chasing Fire,” “Getting Over You,” and “There’s No Way,” which he released with girlfriend Julia Michaels.
