Fifty-eight year-old Ang Probinsyano star Michael Edward Eigenmann, better known as Michael de Mesa, and wife Julie Reyes-Eigenmann bid farewell to the actor’s father-in-law Raymund Reyes as he passed away on Christmas Day.

Two days after Raymund’s passing, Michael shares a photo on his social media account of him and his father-in-law during his wedding, captioned, “Rest in peace, Daddy Raymund. I promise to take good care of your daughter Julie and granddaughter Yuki like you asked me to,” ending it saying, “We will miss you.”

Julie shares a series of photos with her father on her Instagram profile as well, describing her grief, saying, “I am feeling a lot less wonderful this season as I stumble through the grief of losing my Dad on Christmas Day.”

She shares, “Trying my very best to accept the unexpectedness and unfairness of it all. I am feeling so overwhelmed and I’m using every coping skill I can come up with just to get through it.

Today, I find peace writing about him.” Her post continues, “Daddy, I miss you terribly already. The pain is unbearable right now.”

As an optimistic conclusion, Julie notes, “I somehow hear your voice in the back of my head telling me to watch over our family. And I will, Daddy. I promise. Rest peacefully now in the arms of our Lord. I love you so much and I will be thinking of you always until we meet again.” The couple has not shared Raymund’s cause of death.

Michael and Julie, who used to be a member of dance group Hotlegs, were married in 2011, ten years after Michael’s separation with actress/director Gina Alajar. This year, Michael revealed his revolutionary healing after a long battle with Hepatitis C for 18 years, which led to his mission to raise awareness and educate Filipinos about the disease. In his words, “You never know you have it until it’s too late.

It’s very, very important to have your blood tested particularly for the Hep B or Hep C virus. That’s the only time you’ll know you’re a carrier.

And nothing to worry about because the medicines are available here in the Philippines.”
