As the high court is now headed by Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin, the Supreme Court (SC) also named its new mouthpiece, Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez.

Bersamin confirmed Marquez’s appointment on Monday, December 3.

Through this appointment, Marquez will be maintaining two positions concurrently – being a court administrator and a spokesperson. The new SC spokesman also holds the record of being the longest court administrator serving at the high court.

Bersamin’s appointment of Marquez as spokesperson also makes him the head of the Public Information Office (PIO).

This is not the first time for Marquez to hold all mentioned positions as he served in the same posts during the terms of former top magistrates Reynato Puno and the late Renato Corona; until Theodore Te replaced him during the term of ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Te’s resignation followed after the historic ouster, as he made the statement, “I dissent,” in line with the decision.
