HUDCC exec’s dismissal won’t distract Marawi rehab efforts: TFBM
MANILA – Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) on Friday assured it will not allow the dismissal of Falconi Millar as secretary-general of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) to distract the rehabilitation efforts in war-torn Marawi City.
In a statement, TFBM expressed regret to hear news about the termination of Millar, also head of the Secretariat of TFBM, which is in charge of Marawi’s rehabilitation.
“However, we will not let this issue distract our continuing efforts to rehabilitate the city of Marawi. Debris management in the most affected area has been ongoing since the groundbreaking at the end of October, with the developer, FINMAT International Resources, Inc. already on board,” the statement read.
The TFBM also announced it will conduct the fourth Kawiyagan, a livelihood convergence initiative of the task force’s member agencies, on November 29.
The livelihood program is part of the “unwavering commitment of member agencies and stakeholders” to bring the affected families and communities back on their feet.
“We are one with the President in saying that the Marawi rehabilitation will not be affected and we give our full assurance to the public and the people of Marawi that services will not falter towards total recovery,” the task force said.
The TFBM is chaired by Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, who is also the chairperson of HUDCC.
During Thursday’s inauguration of the Cavite Gateway Terminal in Tanza, Cavite, President Rodrigo Duterte announced Millar’s termination over allegations of corruption.
Millar had claimed he was not fired but he resigned amid a demolition job launched against him by some personalities, whom he “annoyed” in protecting the interest of the government.
