Creamline Cool Smashers crush Petro Gazz in PVL match
They got their revenge from the first round match as the Creamline Cool Crushers defeated the Petro Gazz Angels in the second round of 2018 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) during the face-off last Wednesday, November 21 at the Batangas City Coliseum.
The sets ended at 25-11, 25-13, and 25-23 as the Cool Crushers bring themselves one step closer to getting into the Final Four of the league’s second season. While Michele Gumabao contributed a total of 10 points for Creamline, she was guided by Alyssa Valdez and Risa Sato who performed exceptional defense. On the other hand, Cherry Nunag tried to battle it out for the Angels with 10 markers, while Jonah Sabete contributed six.
According to Valdez, her team “just wants to keep improving every game and working hard for each win,” stating, “We know that each game, we need to keep bringing our best. That’s still going to be the goal heading into our last game to prepare for the semis as well.” Looking forward into those semis, she added, “What’s key at this stage is to build our confidence and gain momentum. All semifinalists are strong so we have to improve as a team heading to the semis.”
Creamline’s next match is against Adamson-Akari on Saturday, November 24, where a victory will clinch them the top spot. They currently stand 10-3 while Akari is at 0-13. Petro Gazz is still one of the strongest teams of the league as well, obtaining nine wins during the elimination round.
