It was a heartbreaking news for Tanauan, Batangas upon finding out that their Vice Mayor Julius Caesar Platon II, husband of singer-actress Lindsay Custodio, died of a heart attack at the age of 43 last Monday, November 19. It was reported that he suffered from the heart attack while driving.

In Platon’s Facebook account, a photo of him was posted by son Sean captioned, “To our dearest family and friends, it is with a heavy heart that we inform you all of the sudden and untimely passing of our beloved Julius. He was a blessing and inspiration to us all. He will be greatly missed and will forever remain in our hearts.” The post also shared that the wake is at Heritage Memorial Chapel running from November 20 to 24, when the interment will take place on Saturday morning. For the people of Tanauan, there will also be a special mass and necrological service at the City Hall on Wednesday, November 21 at 9 am.

Platon and wife Lindsay Custodio were initially introduced by a common friend in 1992, the same year Lindsay joined Ang TV. Because of their busy schedules, they were simply phone pals, until they decided to meet in person. In an interview with The Philippine Star back in 2000, Lindsay even shared that she prayed Julius would be wearing a white shirt on their first date because that would mean that “He’s the one,” but joked that he turned up in an all-black outfit.

The couple got engaged on Julius’ 25th birthday while Lindsay was 22 and married twice in December 2000, leading Lindsay to leave her showbiz career to settle down with her husband and start a family. They have two children together, 17-year-old Sean Christopher and twelve-year-old Charisse.

In an interview with Pep.ph, Lindsay shares that she has no regrets in leaving her “first love” of singing for marriage, stating, “You know how public servants are, they’re always out, always at the Barangay, so he’s very busy,” but adding, “Although, my husband is also very hands on. He’s a hands-on father.”
