One of the Duchess of Sussex’ closest aides is leaving her.

The assistant to Duchess Meghan Markle, who was known to have a very significant role at the royal wedding on May 19 of this year, was reported to have resigned from her prestigious post six months after Markle married Prince Harry, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

A Palace source, who named the assistant as just ‘Melissa,’ told the news site that she is “a hugely talented person,” and that “She played a pivotal role in the success of the royal wedding and will be missed by everyone in the royal household,” then asking: “Why would she want to leave such a prestigious job so soon?”

The reason to the sudden departure of the said aide is still unclear, and the Kensington Palace has yet commented about the news.

After losing a close assistant, Markle is still being taken care of by her Assistant Private Secretary Amy Pickerill, who was her first dedicated staffer given by the Palace on February. Also helping her out in her royal activities and duties is Samantha Cohen, who is acting as Markle and Prince Harry’s Private Secretary for the time being.

Markle and Prince Harry first met on a blind date and confirmed their relationship in October 2016.
