What do you deserve in life? Toni Gonzaga says a ‘complete family’

For people who have worked hard and encountered tons of challenges all their lives, probably getting what they want in life, may it be material or not, will suffice.

While some are wishing for new gadgets, clothes, a house, car, and all the other shiny things as something that they deserve in their lives, others like Toni Gonzaga simply want their family to be complete.

“I feel like I deserve a complete family that I have right now. Because I worked so hard all my life, I tried to be a good person,” Toni shared in an interview with Tonight With Boy Abunda.

“Feeling ko parang ‘yun naman ‘yung deserve ko in life. ‘Pag nag-asawa ako hanggang sa lumaki ang mga anak ko, buo ang pamilya. Na hindi maging broken ‘yung marriage, hindi broken maging ‘yung home (I feel like that is what I deserve in life. If I get married, I want my children to grow up having a complete family, that it will not be a broken marriage or broken home),” she added.

Toni told Boy that she grew up witnessing her parents fighting so hard to be together just so she and her sister, Alex, will have a complete and happy family.

Being one of the known couples in the entertainment world, the 34-year-old actress also shared it was not hard for her to remain faithful to her husband, filmmaker Paul Soriano, as she is focused to their first-born, Seve, and in building their family.

“There’s no reason for me to look the other way. Hindi ako nagsasalita ng period kasi baka dumating ang point na i-test kami ni God, na ayaw ko na dumating ‘yung point na ‘yon (I do not want to give a final say because we might come to a point that God will test us, which I do not want to happen). Pero ngayon (But now) there’s no way for me to look the other way,” Toni said.

“And there’s so many dreams that we’re building together na ayaw kong masira (that I do not want to be destroyed),” she continued.

Even she was married to Paul for three years already, all the things she has learned in marriage so far is not yet enough as she is still learning a lot from her experiences.

For instance, for someone like her who is more of a listener and observer, Toni said she has taught herself how to express her feelings more to others.

“I always felt na if I say what I feel baka maka-hurt pa (I always felt that if I say what I feel, others might get hurt). Pero hindi pala (But it is not like that), the more you will be hurt if you don’t communicate,” she said.

It was on June 12, 2015, the day the country celebrates Independence Day, when Toni and Paul exchanged “I Dos” in front of the altar. A year after, the actress gave birth to Seve.

Toni will be starring in an entry for the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Mary, Marry Me, along with her sister and Sam Milby.
