In celebration of their first year of marriage, celebrities Anne Curtis and Erwan Heussaff take a trip to Kenya, South Africa and share with their millions of social media followers the adventures of their overdue honeymoon. The couple got married on November 12, 2017.

Amidst the bonfires, animal hangouts, and candlelit dinners, one of their most noteworthy posts centers around “Eknesha,” an orphan baby elephant that the couple is fostering. Because the elephant and Anne have birthdays around the same date, Erwan thought that she would be the perfect anniversary gift.

In a photo of Anne staring at Eknesha, she tells that it was “Part of [her] anniversary gift from Erwan,” stating, “He fostered a little orphaned elephant in my name. She had to be taken in because of a horrible wire snare that was wrapped around her little trunk. It now has a small little hole in it because when she was much smaller she somehow was able to take the stitches out.”

Anne also shares about the humanitarian work they volunteer in during their stay, like visiting Nyumbani village, which is a home for over a hundred orphaned children in collaboration with Unicef. In Anne’s words, “When I met with my Unicef Philippines family for a general meeting a month ago, I learnt that the Philippines now has the fastest growing HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) epidemic in the Asia-Pacific region.

One thing I have learnt from this visit, do not be afraid to get tested early so you can get proper treatment immediately – no matter your age. Be educated. Be safe. Get tested.”

Pertaining to her husband, Anne also posts about reminiscing their wedding stating, “Just like heaven. You taught and made me believe in magic again. You took what was broken and all of its craziness, and made it whole again.”

Erwan answers back in his own post about being “married for a year,” telling Anne, “The one constant I keep is to make sure that you will always be this happy with us. No matter what happens around us or where we are in life, we will eventually be smiling through it. That smile can stop time for me.
