Segregate Enrile ‘pork’ cases—Sandiganbayan to prosecution
MANILA – The prosecutors were ordered on Tuesday to segregate the pork barrel scam documents of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile from those that do not pertain to pork scam.
The order came following a complaint from Enrile’s lawyers saying they find it hard to digest the voluminous documents made the prosecution.
The documents were in connection with the plunder and graft cases filed against the senator.
“It has been very difficult for the accused to answer such allegations,” Estelito Mendoza, Enrile’s legal counsel said.
In a statement reported by the Philippine Star, 3rd Division member Associate Justice Samuel Martires also said that there were provisions in the documents that were not related to the pork scam case.
“The rest pertains to other congressmen whom I will not name,” Martires said adding that of the almost 9,000 pages of documents, only less than 100 pages referred to the case against Enrile.
