Sunshine Cruz speaks out about sexual assault in marriage with Cesar Montano
Actress Sunshine Cruz finally speaks out to the media about the issues in her marriage with Cesar Montano that led to the couple’s four-year battle for an annulment.
In an exclusive with the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph), Sunshine describes her marriage as “dark and chaotic” elaborating on how she already saw signs of Cesar’s temper during their engagement.
Her wedding in 2000 was almost cancelled, as she shares in Filipino, “He said something to me that surprised me. It was the first time I heard that, because, with my family, not being a showoff, I never heard my dad say anything like that to my mom, I never heard them yell at each other or pull each other or do something like that.”
She didn’t specify on what he said but only hinted in Filipino, “Pigs are pigs. It’s not nice, It wasn’t nice, it wasn’t pleasant.”
They still pursued with the wedding, however, Sunshine, 23 at the time and Cesar 15 years older.
During their marriage, she admits Cesar was “more often temperamental than calm. She said she had no choice but to deal with it because she was already married, thinking to herself, “Maybe you just have to prove your worth as a person.”
Cesar has yet to speak out on his side of the story. His only statement to the public reveals, “I believe God allows everything to happen for a purpose. Marriage is one of the most expensive schools of highest learning in life. But more valuable than money is time. God didn’t let me get out of it without learning something. God is good, all glory to Him.”
The two celebrities have three daughters together: 17-year-old Angelina Isabelle, 14-year-old Samantha, and 11-year-old Cheska.
