MANILA — Senator Juan Ponce Enrile was temporarily detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Friday after surrendering at PNP headquarters in connection with the plunder and graft charges he is facing with regard to the P10-billion pork barrel scam.

PNP chief of the Public Information Office (PIO) Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac said the PNP doctors recommend a hospital confinement for Enrile.

According to the doctors who performed medical examination during the booking process, Enrile’s condition was in good shape but there was murmur in his heart.

“Temporary hospital confinement for further observation due to medical condition of the subject,” according to the note of the doctors who performed medical examination.

It added Enrile’s blood pressure was 200 over 90, while his pulse rate was at 84.

The doctors also said Enrile has prescribed medicines for hypertension, diabetics, cholesterol, vertigo, anti platelet for his blood simmer, anti anemia (injectible), and also multi-vitamins.

Enrile was brought to hospital before 7 p.m. escorted by CIDG personnel and together with her daughter Katrina Ponce Enrile.

Sindac said the senator will be detained at the officers ward at PNP General Hospital in Camp Crame

“According sa mga doctor hospital confinement si Senator Enrile, dahil sa nakita sa heart nito at iba pa,” he said.

Sindac also said the PNP will not release Enrile’s mugshot to the public as requested by his lawyer.

“Sa mugshot naman po di tayo maglalabas dahil na din sa kahilingan ng abogado nito,” he added.

Enrile, 90-year old, is the third senator ordered arrested by the Sandiganbayan in connection with the plunder and graft cases. The two others were Senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada, who are detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
