Sison hits Duterte over destabilization claims vs Left

Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding Chairman Jose Maria “Joma” Sison hit the President for the latter’s destabilization claims, with the former branding it as a “diversion.”

For Sison, the recent developments of the communists slamming President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is a piece of “good news” since these are siding with the citizens.

In an interview with ANC on Sunday, September 9, Duterte’s former professor said that the Chief Executive’s recent statement is only meant to divert the people’s attention away from the real issues.

Sison was referring to Duterte’s speech the day before when he told the people to watch out for the Liberal Party (LP), Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV, and the Communist party – whom he claimed to be “praying” for his ouster.

According to Sison, the President, instead of worrying about the mentioned critics from the Left, he should worry about his followers who “nagsawa na, galit na, sa kanyang tiraniya, kanyang pagbabalak na magtayo ng pamahalaang pangdiktatura, ng pakunwaring pederalismo, at pagtataksil sa West Philippine Sea (are already fed up and angry with his tyranny, his plans of setting a dictatorial government, his fake federalism, and his betrayal in the West Philippine Sea).”

In the same interview, he further said that the only supporters remaining on Duterte’s side are those ‘trolls’ that he is paying. Sison also said that the President is also paying pollsters to “show” that he has high ratings when in reality, for the citizens especially the poor, that is not the case.

The CPP founding chair said that there are far more pressing concerns for the people rather than this “destabilization” plot.

A huge percent of the people are concerned with the sinking economy, especially on the inflation, with prices of primary goods skyrocketing high, and these are the things that make the majority of Filipinos suffer),” he added

On Saturday, Duterte slammed groups and persons leaning to the Left during his speech and media interview following his official visits to Israel and Jordan.

He was previously talking about detained Senator Leila de Lima, also one of his staunchest critics, when he shifted to identifying the LP or the “Yellow;” Trillanes, whom he revoked the amnesty; and the politburo of the CPP – for people to watch for.

So tatlo ‘yan (These three), they are praying for my ouster. You know, kung kayo-kayo lang niyan, magbakbakan lang tayo, matulog na lang ako (if it will only be you, we will only fight, I should just sleep),” Duterte said.

Meanwhile, Malacañang through Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Jr. said that Duterte has a basis for his accusations.

Alam niyo naman ang Presidente, tanging siya lang ang may access sa lahat ng mga impormasyon, kasama na iyong intelligence information (You know the President, he is the only one with an access to all information, including intelligence information),” Roque told DZRH.

In a press conference on Monday, September 10, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said that they are still “verifying” these ouster plot reports.
