Jinggoy’s son under fire for extravagant lifestyle

Published

on

We’ve seen Janet Lim-Napoles’ daughter Jeane.

We saw her Php 175,000 Christian Loubotin shoes, we saw her Chanel and Herve Leger clutches, we saw her snap photos next to celebrities like Justin Bieber and Blake Lively, we saw her travel photos in Paris and London, and we even saw going from point A to point B on a fancy limousine.

Now that the pork barrel scam limelight has shifted to the three senators, their families’ lifestyles were also brought to public light.

A few weeks ago, Bacoor Rep. Lani Mercado — wife of Sen. Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. — was called out for her expensive bags and outfits. To be perfectly honest, those could’ve been from her talent fees as an actress. But we’ll never know for sure.

Recently, alleged Instagram photos of Joseph Luis Manuel ‘Jolo’ Ejercito Estrada — son of Sen. Jose ‘Jinggoy’ Estrada — flooded social media. The photos showed Jolo lounging in the Presidential Suite of the Manila Hotel, flying in a private jet, holding a handful of casino chips at Solaire, and even a vanity photo of his Louis Vuitton Monte Carlo loafers.

This author is using “alleged” because other than the Instagram account under @JOLOESTRADA17 (where the photos in this post were taken), there seems to be another account under his name with username @JOSEPHLUISMAN, which is connected to his Twitter account with the same handle.

One of his tweets reads:

Nonetheless, both Instagram accounts are set to “private,” which means only approved followers can see their posts.

The photos in this posts are courtesy of Arpee Lazaro as posted by Manila Speak, the first to show Jolo’s extravagant lifestyle.

In this photo, Jolo (left) is with his brother Julian Emilio (part of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic Circle 2013), in a private jet with lush seats and a bag of Cheetos. The caption on this Instagram photo says “For the weekend.”

According to Republic Act 8239, only “spouses and unmarried minor-children of the above-mentioned officials when accompanying or following to join them in an official mission abroad” may apply for a diplomatic passport.

Jolo is most definitely not a minor.

Although, to be fair, who said the passport is his? Although, the photo caption did say “See you soon, Manila!”

Apparently, Jolo celebrated a birthday in Solaire with a handful of P500 chips. Was is his birthday or someone else’s? Either way, that’s a lot of moolah.

An attempt to make a reservation at Manila Hotel’s website will show that a night at their Presidential Suite will set you back Php 95,798 — not including the bottle of what seems to be champagne or wine by the tub.

In an interview with PEP.ph, former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada — Jolo’s grandfather — defended his grandson, saying that his grandson Jolo can afford these things because he dabbles in showbiz as well.

The older Estrada men first tasted popularity in showbiz before they decided to join the political arena.

Jude Estrada, Jolo’s uncle, also came to his nephew’s rescue, saying that the Manila Hotel stay was complimentary.

“Complimentary lang yung stay na yun for a night,” Jude said in the same PEP.ph interview.

Those LV Monte Carlo loafers cost around US $600 a pair — roughly Php 30,000 — more than a young professional’s monthly income.

Sapatos lang ‘yan, e, kayang-kaya niyang mabili. Sapatos lang,” Mayor Erap said.

(Those are just shoes. He can definitely afford to buy those.)

Now that these photos are out, more people are asking how the son of a government official could afford such luxuries? Sure, their family’s in showbiz, but who’s to say where the the talent fee ends and where taxpayers’ money begins?
