MYX announces winners for MYX Music Awards 2018
Today’s biggest personalities in the local music scene flocked at the Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, May 15, as music channel MYX recognized winners in its annual music awards.
Filipino-Australian singer and actor James Reid was the winner of the night as he bagged the most number of trophies in four categories: Music Video of the Year for “The Life,” Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Cool Down,” and Male Artist of the Year.
Other winners include pop superstar Sarah Geronimo (Female Artist of the Year), BoyBand PH (Group of the Year), Moira dela Torre for “Malaya” (Mellow Video of the Year), and Brisom for “Balewala” (Rock Video of the Year).
IV of Spades, who recently split with its former lead vocalist Unique Salonga, took home the New Artist of the Year award and the MYX Bandarito Performance of the Year award.
Aside from winning the Female Artist of the Year, Sarah also won the Collaboration of the Year award along with Yeng Constantino for their “Kaibigan Mo.”
KZ Tandingan, who recently made headlines when she represented the Philippines in a Chinese singing competition, also won two awards which are Urban Video of the Year for her song “Labo” and Media Soundtrack of the Year for “Two Less Lonely People in the World.”
Meanwhile, Darren Espanto and Jed Madela obtained the Remake of the Year award, besting Daniel Padilla; Elisse Joson and McCoy de Leon; BoybandPH; and Kay Cal.
James’s significant other, Nadine Lustre, won the Music Video Guest Appearance of the Year in “The Life.”
Completing the annual MYX Music Awards are as follows: Edward Barber (MYX Celebrity VJ of the Year), Super Junior for “Black Suit” (International Video of the Year), and of course, the Concert King Martin Nievera who was presented with MYX Magna Award.
Heart Evangelista, who just announced her pregnancy, reunited with past and present Video Jockeys including Iya Villania, Champ Lui Pio, Binaca Roque, Robi Domingo, Inigo Pascual, Sharlene San Pedro, Sunshine Kim, and Ai dela Cruz, to present onstage the nominees and trophies.
The night was full of excitement and energy as Donny Pangilinan, Julie Anne San Jose, AC Bonifacio, Janina Vela, and HRVY entertained the large crowd with their respective performances.
Also joining them onstage were Kisses Delavin, Tony Labrusca, members of Hashtags, Maymay Entrata, Edward, and Ex-Battalion.
