Canada, Phl to exchange trade missions

MANILA — To further strengthen the trade and investment ties of Canada and Philippines, an exchange of trade missions between the two countries is expected in the coming months.
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CanCham) said that while two inbound Canadian missions are expected to arrive in the country, an outbound trade mission composed of Filipino firms is also set to go to Canada.
It will be the first outbound trade mission from the Philippines to Canada, according to CanCham executive director Cora dela Cruz in an interview for the Philippine Star.
The delegation will attend trade fairs and conferences focusing on the agribusiness and food sector in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal from Aug. 15 to 24.
“Food is a big component of trade between the Philippines and Canada,” CanCham president Julian Payne said.
Two inbound trade mission from Canada are also expected to arrive in the country with the first inbound mission to composed of 10 firms from British Colombia.
The first mission will focus on information technology while the second will be on agribusiness.
The CanCham has also set to hold the Canada Day Fair in Cebu on June 30 and in Manila on July 1 to enhance trade and investment links between the two countries.
