Ortigas & Co. breaks ground on P6.3-B Greenhills mall
MANILA — Property developer Ortigas & Company on Wednesday broke ground on a PHP6.3-billion integrated regional mall in San Juan City, as it ramps up the first phase of its PHP60-billion Greenhills redevelopment project.
The company said the new mall located at old Unimart is the second development launched in the massive Greenhills upgrade, which kicked off with residential tower Connor last year.
Ortigas & Company President and Chief Executive Officer Jimmy Ysmael said the firm is pouring in PHP19.1 billion to build first phase of Greenhills redevelopment program over the next five years.
“We hope to open the retail component in 2021. That will be followed by the office component in 2022. I think Connor will be done by 2023 and hopefully the next tower by 2024. That’s the timeline we are looking at for the first phase of this redevelopment program,” he said in a press briefing.
The new mall will house over 150 global lifestyle brands and about 2,000 tiangge stalls. It will rise to seven floors with a gross floor area of over 100,000 square meters and three basement levels for parking providing 1,300 slots.
“We are building on the format that we have now, and making it more attuned to the current trends of global and local retail,” said Company Vice President and Ortigas Malls General Manager Renee Bacani.
