Duterte pushes for partnership amid political rivalries
The President urged the different political color supporters to unite and establish a partnership for the betterment of the nation
“Kalimutan na natin ‘yung mga partido-partido. Partnership na lang tayo (Let us forget about the political party system. Let us just form a partnership),” President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said on the evening of March 21 in a speech during the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC) National Convention.
“Kasi kung mag-ano tayo walang mangyari eh. Mag-distance kayo eh kasi ‘yung isa, malapit ‘yung isa. Huwag na lang ‘yan. Tulungan na lang tayo (Because if we fight, nothing will happen. Some are distanced, while some are close. Let us stop that. Let us help each other),” he added.
The Chief Executive also stressed that he does not care about those who did not support him during the elections.
“Kung suportahan ako ng karamihan ng tao (If a majority of the people support me), I would appreciate it. Hindi kayo tumulong sa akin, kay [Jejomar] Binay kayo, kay Grace [Poe], wala na akong pake, kay Mar [Roxas] (If you did not help me, whether you were for Jejomar Binay, Grace Poe, or Mar Roxas, I do not care),” Duterte said.
He then added, “Tapos na ‘yun. Bakit pa ba ako mag-ano diyan? Panalo na ako. Kaya ako tahimik na lang ako (That is already done. Why do I have to care about that? I already won. That is why I keep silent).”
Duterte also said that for those who do not wish to cooperate with his proposal, are free but have to comply with some sort of division and exchange.
“’Yung ayaw talaga, doon tayo maglagay ng… So ayaw mong mag-join sa amin, it’s politics, sige. Pero kung magkausap tayo, ibigay mo sa amin ‘yung Congress, iyo ‘yung local governments. Palit-palit na lang tayo para everybody happy (For those who do not wish to join us, this is politics. But if we will talk, you have to give us the Congress, you can have the local governments. Let us just have an exchange for everybody to be happy),” the President explained.
