MANILA – Actress Claudine Barretto yesterday morning entered a “plea of not guilty” at her arraignment before the sala of Judge Felix Reyes of RTC Branch 272 of the Marikina Regional Trial Court (RTC). This is with regard to the charges of theft filed against her by her former household helper.
Barreto was accompanied by her lawyer, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, made her plea before
People present at the court appearance said that after Barretto entered her plea, she “made faces” directed at the private complainant and former employee of the actress, Jennifer Murillo.
“Natatawa lang po ako sa kanya. Hindi ko po alam kung ano ibig sabihin niya no’n.
Anlakas nga po ng loob niya. Magganun-ganun gayung alam naman kung sino agrabyado dito (What she did makes me want to laugh. I don’t know what she meant to prove, with those actions. She has some nerve. To do such things, when we all know who is in question here,)” Murillo told reporters.
Murillo filed theft charges against Barretto after the latter allegedly withheld her portable media player, cell phone speaker, passport, ID, and tablet among other items in August 2013, for still “unknown reasons.”
Barretto said she was unaffected by the complaint filed against her.
The pre-trial of the case has been set for June 24.
