Banario, Torres among One’s top knockouts for 2017

MANILA — The MMA promotion One Championship ranked Honorio Banario’s stoppage of Jaroslav Jartim as the second best knockout of 2017.

Banario connected on a left hook that knocked Jartim out cold in April, his first win by knockout since 2012.

Only Martin Nguyen’s shocking knockout win over Eduard Folayang — to capture the One lightweight title last November — was ranked higher than Banario’s, easily making Nguyen’s historic stoppage the Knockout of the Year.

Also in the One Championship’s Top 5 is Boracay-based Swedish fighter Zebaztian Kadestam’s stunner over former world title contender Luis Santos, which ended up third on the list.

Meanwhile, Jomary Torres’ shock submission over Rika Ishige made it to One’s top submissions of the year, ranking fifth.

Torres stunned the One Championship community when she successfully forced more heralded Ishige to tap out during their fight at One: Kings and Conquerors in Macau last August.
