Pope names new Bohol bishop
MANILA — Negros-born seminary rector was named by Pope Francis as the new bishop of Talibon in Bohol, according to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference (CBCP) on Wednesday.
Fr. Daniel Patrick Parcon replaced Bohol’s former Bishop Vicente Noel, who resigned after reaching age 75.
Parcon, who chairs the San Carlos Diocese’s Marriage and Family Life Apostolate in Negros is also, the rector of St. John Mari philosophy seminary in San Carlos City.
He was born in Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental in 1962 and was ordained in 1994 holding Masters degrees from St. Rita College, San Carlos City, Philippines and Fordham University in New York City.
“Bishop Parcon held a number of pastoral roles, which included his being spiritual director and dean of studies at the St. John Mary Philosophy seminary in San Carlos City; parish administrator of the Ascension Church in Hurricane, West Virginia, U.S; and parish administrator of the Immaculate Conception Church at Liberty, Texas. He was also parish vicar at the Blessed Sacrament Church at Valley Stream, New York,” the CBCP said on its news site.
