MANILA— Cargill Joy Poultry Meats Production, Inc. (C-Joy), a joint venture between listed fast food giant Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC), and Cargill Philippines Inc., on Tuesday inaugurated its new poultry processing plant in Santo Tomas, Batangas to meet rising consumer demand for chicken in the country.

C-Joy said the country’s largest plant has a processing capacity of 45 million chickens per year to meet increased demand of JFC brands.

“Cargill and Jollibee came together to start this plant because of our common commitment to the highest standards in product quality and food safety,” said C-Joy President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Fullbright.

Cargill and JFC have a 70% and a 30% stake, respectively in C-Joy.

C-Joy is partnering with local poultry farmers in Batangas and nearby provinces to supply chickens to the new facility.

“This partnership will meaningfully benefit our customers, our operations as well as the overall Philippine food industry.

United States Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim considered the continued investments from Cargill in the Philippines an indication of the strong economic relationship between the US and the Philippines.
