Power, telecom resumed in China quake zone
YINGJIANG, YUNNAN — Power and telecommunications have resumed in Yingjiang County in southwest China’s Yunnan Province after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake on Friday.
The quake relief headquarters in the county said that by Monday, only 12 of the 43 people injured in the quake remained in hospital, and a total of 45,732 people have been evacuated as their homes were damaged.
The people were temporarily settled in tents and make-shift houses.
On Monday, road traffic to the county was reconnected. Rescue staff, soldiers and police are still sifting through debris.
