3 most wanted fall in Davao’s anti-crime ops

DAVAO CITY—Three wanted persons were arrested when joint government operatives swooped down on 10 villages Friday morning in line with the continuing anti-crime and terrorism operation or Oplan Bulabog.

The three were identified as Jimmy Orcullo, who is wanted for theft; Saldy Ipanag for illegal drugs; and, Arnel Tenava for violation of the Anti-Smoking Ordinance.

They were among the 3,459 individuals rounded up for profiling by the authorities from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Task Force Davao, Regional Public Safety Battalion, Philippine Coast Guard, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, National Bureau of Investigation, CIDG, the Regional Intelligence Unit, and the different police stations.

The joint operations covered Barangays Tomas Monteverde, Islamic Center, Brgy 39-D, Datu Luho, Maa, Fatima Village, Waan, Blk 1-9, Muslim Village, Brgy Ilang, Brgy Marapangi, Brgy Sto Nino, Brgy Riverside, all of Davao City.

DCPO spokesperson Sr Inspector Ma Theresa Gaspan said the simultaneous operations resulted in the profiling of 1,891 persons; 1,347 with ID; 209 with no ID; 12 evacuees from Marawi; six issuance of citation tickets, one impounded motorcycle and the arrest of Orcullo, Ipanag and Tenava.

Gaspan said Oplan Bulabog was a once-a-month operation but by mid-September it has become a weekly activity aimed at verifying identities of persons in the villages, if they are registered and what is their work.

The residents who are not registered are turned over to the barangay for registration and issuance of IDs.

The Oplan bulabog is also part of DCPO’s effort to prevent the entry of terrorists in the city and for the security of Davaoeños.
