DOJ orders Zoren Legaspi to answer tax evasion complaint
MANILA — Actor Zoren Legaspi received an order from the Department of Justice (DOJ) to respond to the P4.4 million tax evasion complaint filed against him by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
The preliminary investigation has been set on Wednesday, May 28.
BIR filed the case against the 40-year-old actor for violating sections 254 and 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code for willful attempt to evade or defeat tax and deliberate failure to supply correct and accurate information in his income tax returns for 2010 and 2012.
Based on the investigation of the BIR, Legaspi earned P9.64 million in 2010, and P6.49 million in 2012.
However, when the documents were compared, it showed that Legaspi declared P6.
79 million as gross income in his tax returns filed with the BIR in 2010, and P1.82 million in 2012. The discrepancies resulted to P4.45 million worth of tax liabilities, including surcharges and interest.
