Arroyo joins PDP
MANILA— Former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo jumped ship to the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) party on Wednesday.

Arroyo, who belonged to the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats), took her oath before PDP Secretary-General and House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.
“My joining the PDP is to consolidate support for the President. It is a matter of course as we have been talking about this for quite some time,” Arroyo said in a statement.
Aside from Arroyo, Bohol Rep. Arthur Yap also took his oath as a new PDP member.
The number of PDP members in the House of Representatives so far stands at 123.
