400 cops beef up security for MassKara Fest
BACOLOD CITY— The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 deployed 400 policemen here Tuesday to augment the security forces for the ongoing 38th MassKara Festival.
The arrival of the augmentation group coincided with the assumption of Superintendent Rhoderick Minong as officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) after Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky was relieved and transferred to the PRO-6 headquarters in Iloilo City.
Senior Superintendent Jesus Cambay Jr., deputy regional director for operations of PRO-6, led the arrival ceremony held at the BCPO grounds Tuesday afternoon.
The 400 policemen will join the 673 personnel of BCPO in securing the festivities, which will run until October 22, the final day highlights.
Chief Supt. Cesar Binag, director of PRO-6, earlier said he would lead the send-off ceremony of all augmentation personnel at the Bacolod City Government Center either on October 16 or 17.
Other augmentation forces are 150 personnel from Regional Public Safety Battalion 6; 100 from Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office; 15 from Philippine Army; 200 army reservists; and 250 anti-crime volunteers.
The 22-day festivity is themed “Bacolod: City of Southeast Asia.”
