Twelve people injured when cruise ship slams dock in Quebec City
QUEBEC — Twelve people suffered various injuries Monday afternoon when a cruise ship slammed into a pier during berthing at Quebec City.
Quebec ambulance officials say a few of the injured from the “Louis Joliett” were transported to hospital but none of the injuries are life-threatening.
It’s not yet known if there was a mechanical problem
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says it is sending a team of investigators to the scene to find out what happened.
The ship was carrying about 60 people at the time of the incident.
The website for the ship’s owner, Croisieres AML, shows the “Louis Joliett” is 51.
6 metres long and has a capacity of 1,000 passengers. The company says it has 21 boats operating in 10 Quebec ports.
