TBA productions on Friday has released online the first trailer of “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral”, a sequel of the 2015 Filipino historical biopic film “Heneral Luna”. Following the story of General Antonio Luna’s leadership of the Philippine Revolutionary Army, “Goyo” tackles about the story of one of the youngest general during the Philippine-American war.
Both films are directed by Jerrold Tarog. Kapamilya star Paulo Avelino played the role of the young general which was later shown in the teaser.
In the 40 seconds trailer, audience will see a sword pinned to the ground as a woman narrates: “Tinanghal kang pinakamatapang, makabayan, at tampok sa mga bayaning kilala. Ngunit kung nais mong mahalin kita, hayaan mo akong mahalin ang isang lalaki na mayayakap ko. Hindi isang bayani na nasa ibabaw ng mga ulap. Gusto ko sumandal sa bisig ng isang lalaki na alam ang kanyang hangganan, pagka’t natupad na niya ang kanyang tungkulin sa bayan [You are hailed as the bravest, most patriotic, and most heroic of all heroes. But if you want me to love you, let me love a man who I can embrace. Not a hero above the clouds. I wish to lie in the arms of a man who knows his limits for he has fulfilled his duties to his country].”
As the voice-over uttered these words, audience will see a man in uniform, walking to pick up the sword and having a view of the valley. When the man turns around, it was revealed that the man walking in the valley was Gen. Gregorio Del Pilar (played by Paulo Avelino).
The trailer has ended with the hashtag “#GOYO2018” which indicates that the film will be released in cinemas next year.
It has been two years since the released of the highly-anticipated and the most successful historical film “Heneral Luna”. The film garnered critical acclaim from critics and audiences, applauding its cinematography, writing, acting and plot.
The movie was chosen as the Philippine’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film At the 88th Academy Awards in 2016, however, the said film was not nominated.
