MANILA — The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) has benefit packages for members and their dependents who are hospitalized for illnesses common during the rainy season, an official said Monday.

These packages are for such illnesses as mild to severe dengue fever, influenza, and leptospirosis, said Dr. Israel Pargas, PhilHealth officer-in-charge and Vice President for Corporate Affairs.

PhilHealth, he said, offers a PHP10,000 package for dengue without warning signs; PHP16,000 for dengue with warning signs; PHP11,000 for leptospirosis; PHP10,000 for typhoid fever; and PHP6,000 for influenza.

It also offers PHP6,000 for cholera; and PHP11,800 for Hepatitis A.

Aside from these packages for common illnesses during the wet season, PhilHealth also provides benefits for members and their dependents confined in hospitals for giving birth and for major illnesses, such as cancer.

These benefits are deducted from the total hospital fees incurred while the PhilHealth member or dependent is confined in hospital to reduce the amount to be paid upon release.

The no balance billing applies to indigents.

Pargas, meanwhile, reminded PhilHealth members to make sure that they do their part in paying the premiums, so they could avail of these benefit packages.

“PhilHealth urges everyone to be ready by making sure that PhilHealth member data and contributions are updated,” he said.
