MANILA — The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is calling on all government agencies, local governments, government-owned or controlled corporations, and state universities and colleges to support the observance of the 14th Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection (CPAP) Week on September 16-22.

CSC chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala, in a recent announcement, enjoined all government agencies to conduct activities and display the official 14th CPAP Week streamer to promote public awareness about the event.

This year’s CPAP week, which will carry the theme, “Towards an Inclusive Philippine Society for Person with Cerebral Palsy,” aims to create an environment that will allow persons with cerebral palsy to enjoy productive lives and inform the public that the causes of disabilities could be prevented.

The observance will be led by the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and Cerebral Palsied Association of the Philippines Inc.

In line with this, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) issued a memo circular on Aug. 29 encouraging all local government units (LGUs) to support the observance by hanging advocacy streamers in strategic places (the streamer’s design could be downloaded at www.ncda.gov.ph); announcing the CPAP Week celebration during the flag-raising ceremony; conducting scientific congress on cerebral palsy, sensitivity training for employers, family day/educational field trip for children with cerebral palsy, medical mission for persons with cerebral palsy, and demonstration/tournament of Boccia sports for persons with cerebral palsy.

The observance is in accordance with Proclamation No.
