MANILA — Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) officer-in-charge, Undersecretary Emmanuel Leyco, has pledged to try his best to continue the prompt and compassionate service for vulnerable people that his predecessor, Judy Taguiwalo, had begun.

“We shall try to continue the morals, principles, and way of public service that (former) Secretary Judy Taguiwalo started,” said Leyco in a news release issued by the department on Wednesday.

He made the statement during the recent farewell gathering for Taguiwalo, whose appointment was rejected by the Commission on Appointments last August 16.

Leyco, an economics professor, went on leave from his teaching post at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) when he was appointed DSWD undersecretary for finance and administration.

He was designated as the department’s OIC by President Rodrigo Duterte on August 18.
