No Filipinos hurt in Philadelphia train crash: DFA
MANILA — There are no reports of Filipinos affected by Tuesday’s train crash in Philadelphia in the United States that left 33 people injured, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
“We thank the Lord that no Filipino was among the victims of the accident,” DFA Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said in a statement, as he prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.
Philippine Consul General in New York, Ma. Theresa De Vega, said the incident involved a high speed train that crashed onto a stationary train car in Upper Darby, around 10 miles west of Philadelphia.
De Vega assured Cayetano that the Consulate General remains in touch with authorities and stands ready in case any Filipino is reported to be in need of assistance.
