President Aquino on his job: It would be boring without problems
Manila, Philippines — It has already been four years since President Benigno Aquino III assumed presidency — and for him, his job would be boring without the problems.
During the inauguration of the Bicol University Health Sciences building in Legazpi City, Albay, Aquino said:
“Di ba lahat ng tao habang buhay may problema? Gabinete ko, eh tao naman, may mga araw ilalapit sa aking ‘yong mga problema nila. So minsan pinulong ko sila at sinabi ko sa inyo, ‘Alam n’yo, ‘pag wala na tayong problema, ‘yon naman ang magiging problema, dahil magiging boring.'”
(Doesn’t everybody have problems in life? My cabinet members–they are people–there are days when they’ll come to me with all their problems. So, one time I gathered then and said, ‘You know what, when we don’t have problems then that will become a problem, because life will become boring.’)
“Kaya habang buhay tayo, talagang ganyan ang tadhana natin. Tao tayo, mayroon tayong problema.
” he added.
(So, while we’re still alive, that’s our fate.
We are people, we have problems.)
In November 2013, Aquino faced one of the biggest problems in the country when super typhoon ‘Yolanda’ (Haiyan) ravaged some parts of Visayas.
