A rally for justice will be held tonight by relatives, friends, and supporters of 17-year-old Grade 11 student Kian Loyd Delos Santos who was allegedly killed in an anti-drug police operation in Caloocan City.

The “Himagsikan para kay Kian” will be held at the People Power Monument in Quezon City at 6 pm and will coincide with the 34th death anniversary of slain former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

On her facebook post Saturday, University professor Sylvia Claudio said the rally should be made as a ‘common humanity’.

“If possible, no organizational posters. Let’s make this about our common humanity,” Claudio said.

Former education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro has invited the public to offer a minute of silence to remember Delos Santos.

“May I propose a minute of silence every night at 8:24 to remember Kian Loyd Delos Santos and all innocent victims of merciless deaths in our land,” Luistro, also the current president of De La Salle University, said.

A CCTV footage showed Delos Santos was hauled by two men in civilian clothes at 8:24 p.m. Wednesday in Caloocan City before he was found dead.

Luistro also wrote a prayer for life that may be recited at 8:25 in the evening.

“We beg that the Lord grant us a compassionate heart so we may not grow callous and indifferent at these countless deaths,” the prayer reads.

Luistro urged Filipino people to work untiringly to denounce “the culture of violence and death in our society and sow life-giving values in our families.”

Luistro and other former education officials visited the wake of Delos Santos last Friday evening.

Delos Santos was found dead in an alleged shootout with the police. However, CCTV footage shows he was dragged by force by two men before he was killed.

Malacañang described the event as an isolated case.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Rolando “Bato” Dela Rosa promised a probe on the matter.
