KUALA LUMPUR – Daniel Parantac failed to defend the men’s taijijian title on Sunday in the 29th Southeast Asian Games wushu competition at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center Hall 5.

The 26-year-old native of Baguio, who won the silver medal in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, finished fourth with a score of 9.56 points.

The gold medal went to Malaysian Jack Chang Loh, who scored 9.

67 points, while Indonesian Bobie Valentinus scored 9.65 points to claim the silver medal. Singaporean Jun Kai Chan settled for the bronze medal with a score of 9.62 points.

“His overall performance was very good, but he had difficulty in his landing in the first part that prompted the judges to deduct points from his total score,” said coach Samson Co.

“Had those points were not deducted, he could have surpassed the 9.

Parantac, who won bronze medals in two World Wushu Championships, is scheduled to compete in the compulsory taiquan event on Tuesday.
