Hundreds turned up to pay their last respect to the Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., his wife Susan, and his siblings Misamis Occidental board member Octavio Parojinog and Mona Parojinog, at the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral.

Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog and her brother Reynalo Jr., who are currently detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custoial Center in Camp Crame, were not able to attend the wake and burial of their parents as Ozamiz Regional Trial Court denied their request.

The Parojinog siblings filed an urgent motion on August 13, asking for a permission to attend the wake and burial of the mayor and his wife. However, Ozamiz RTC Executive Judge Edmundo P. Pintac rejected the said motion, saying that they have to consider the safety and security not only of the Vice Mayor and his brother, but also the police escort as well.

Supporters of the Parojinog family cried for justice as they accompanied the funeral procession around the city. Ozamiz residents carried placards seeking for justice for the slain mayor, his wife, and siblings. They said that the city has lost a great leader with the mayor’s passing. Students, on the other hand, waved white flags to show sympathy to the family.
