KAWIT, Cavite, Aug. 8 — The historical Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine is representing this town’s share in the landmark lighting of 50 historical landmarks in the country marking the 50th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN).

The simultaneous ceremonial landmark lighting ceremonies at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday highlights the country’s hosting of the regional economic bloc’s shared success in the past 50 years and also sets the the tone for partnering for change in the next 50 years.

Kawit tourism officer Angelo Jarin Aguinaldo said the occasion will also showcase and promote Kawit’s culture and various offerings, including its world-class talents.

Tuesday’s celebration officially starts at 6 p.m. leading to the spectacular countdown towards the lighting ceremony at 7:00 p.m.

Homegrown talents will then render cultural presentations, and a concert to entertain special guests and the crowd.

Founded in 1967, ASEAN has evolved into the “ASEAN Way” with focus on economic integration and consensus-building resulting in unprecedented growth in the region.

At present, ASEAN is the world’s seventh-largest market, the third-largest labor force, and has been projected to become the fourth-largest economic bloc by 2030.

Among its accomplishments include the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community last year to create a single market and production base—facilitating even closer economic, political, social, and cultural cooperation.
