Senator Legarda to help upgrade Antique’s Pagsapupo Center
SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique, Aug. 2 — Senator Loren Legarda will be helping to upgrade the currently one-floor infrastructure of Pagsapupo Center which serves as haven for the abused women and children in Antique province.
Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Lazaro G. Petinglay, in an interview on Wednesday, said they are on the process of preparing a project proposal that will be submitted to the Antiquena senator who has given her words to support the upgrading project.
Petinglay said that the Pagsapupo Center, which was constructed sometime in 2005 and accredited by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, has currently 10 clients composed of women and children who sought temporary shelter.
He said that the center needs additional rooms due to the growing number of clients. The expansion of the center to a two-story building has proposed.
The center’s premises also needs to have a fence and other facilities particularly for the clients to have livelihood training while staying at the center.
“We do hope the senator would approve the proposal to be submitted soon to her office,” he said.
