Tabugon, Sonsona to challenge Moloney twins
DAVAO CITY, July 27— Stablemates Raymond Tabugon and Lolito Sonsona of the Sanman Boxing Club from General Santos City will be challenging the Australian twin brothers Andrew and Jason Moloney of their WBA Oceania titles both on August 19 at the Function Centre of Melbourne Park in Victoria, Australia.
Tabugon will fight the still unbeaten Andrew Moloney for his WBA Oceania super flyweight title while Sonsona will challenge Jason Moloney of his WBA Oceania super bantamweight title.
Tabugon, a former International Boxing Organization (IBO) Inter-Continental light flyweight champion, previously stopped Jetly Purisima in the 7th round last May 12 at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Davao City.
Sonsona, on the other hand, captured the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) International super flyweight crown by a UD win over Renren Tesorio in his last fight held February 26 at the Lagao Gym in Gensan.
Andrew Moloney, 26 had successfully retained his crown in his third and last title defense against Mexican Aramis Solis via a 3rd round knockout on June 3 at the Function Centre.
Jason Moloney also remained unbeaten in his 4th title defense via a 5th round technical knockout victory over Mexico’s Emanuel Armendariz last June 3.
Another Filipino Silvester Lopez (28W-13L), a former WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight champion will also see action in the undercard against Ibrahim Balla (11W-1L) of Australia.
The boxing event is promoted by Lynden Hosking of Hosking Promotions under the Professional Boxing and Combat Sports Board of Victoria.
