Canadian stock market rises
TORONTO—Canada’s main stock index rose Friday because oil prices increased while the financials and materials groups also climbed.
The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index rose 181.26 points, or 1.2 percent, to end the day at 15,458.46. All of the index’s 10 main groups rose.
The Canadian dollar hiked 0.52 cents to 74 US cents.
Markets in Canada will be closed Monday for Victoria Day.
